Lessons from N R Narayana Murthy

Like millions of Indians and counting more, I consider Mr Murthy as my role model and hence am always on look out for this thoughts on different aspects in interviews, newspapers, magazines and other sources. In this context, his book 'A Better India: A Better World' is indeed a boon to me and many others across the world. We are really fortunate to have an opportunity to learn from him through this book. On an on-going basis, I will be attempting to briefly note down some of the learnings from this book and from other sources. I hope I(and also we) will be able to apply atleast some of the learnings, if not all, in some aspects of whatever we do. Below are some of his lessons for us:
  • Believe in
    • Learning from experiences, success or failure - It is more difficult to learn from success than from failure
    • Having a growth mindset and not a fixed mindset.
    • Paying close attention to chance events and respond with energy & enthusiasm
    • Self-reflection and self-knowledge
